Local media finally confirmed actual landfall this morning at Satsumasendai City in Kagoshima. There was video and radar that earlier showed Makurazaki (a fishing port further south from Satsumasendai) as a potential landfall (below).

The projected path will still pull a lot of moisture and dump a ton of rain across the country (a landslide as a result of torrential rain from one of the outer rain bands has already taken the lives of 3 people in Aichi which is farther north from where the typhoon’s center was originally located/well before it made actual landfall). Coastal areas will also be impacted by storm surge as the system moves up the archipelago. Parts of Kyushu will also be hit by strong winds as the system moves through it over the next day.
