Halfway Through May

Nearly halfway through May and coming up on half of 2025 being gone, where the passing of time feels relentlessly quick and the amount of idiocy is reaching a point of overload (reminding me of the earlier/simpler days of the internet when some of that stuff felt like information overload). For myself, it’s reached the point of brain lock (where I cannot even “stream of conscious” begin to formulate what I want to type out because there is just too much literal bullshit to begin to process). In much simpler terms, it’s like “I feel like I’m taking crazy pills”.

The normalization of lawlessness by this regime in the U.S. feels so anti-climatic when it was all telegraphed in that Project 2025 document (and how quickly so many institutions have caved, revealing how fragile the system was). Recent weeks has been even more reports (often times not covered by the mainstream media) of even more unconstitutional abductions by ICE agents (a now modern day version of the Gestapo). This organization under this regime no longer has any shame (these agents are people who are potentially neighbors, “friends”, family, etc who are carrying out illegal orders on a daily basis). And it is disgusting.

The chief justice of the supreme court (not going to use caps because that institution is corrupted) John Roberts said at a recent event at the Georgetown Law School that the rule of law is endangered. Oh really? This from the chief justice who oversees this “highest court” of the other 5 “conservatives” who have shown their willingness to go above ethics/bending the rules in their favor; the same group who ruled for giving the president immunity for “official acts”, thus placing that one person above the rule of law. Roberts also decried the attacks on the supreme court justices (which AFAIK, is warranted for those 5 plus him because they own a lot of this destruction that has been wreaked since this regime took power).

This whole off/on tariff situation (and watching Wall Street do its “pump and dump” thing) is once again, playing with fire. I will say that it was China that held its ground and it was the U.S. regime that had to blink (as U.S. ports saw empty container ships being the reality for this 2nd half of May and beyond). Let’s call this what it is; this is economic terrorism taking place, but people are becoming so numb to this reality. While there may still be several weeks of supply chain disruptions, that massive multi-month shock many of us were anticipating is now put off for at least another 90 days.

There is also that money wasting military parade which the convicted felon has long wanted to have (and the U.S. Army plans to do it to celebrate its 250th anniversary which also coincides with Trump’s birthday on June 14th). The fact that the United States is heading into its 250th year in 2026, is something else that feels so foreign give how this country may no longer even be that same experiment in democracy by the time July 4, 2026 rolls around. I personally don’t know if I want to even remain in this country.

As far as Qatar donating a flying hotel of a 747 to Trump as a personal gift (which can be used as Air Force One temporarily until two new aircraft are delivered by Boeing), it is the definition of this corrupt kleptocractic regime (in addition to also being an autocracy and kakistocracy) since it runs afoul of the emoluments clause in the U.S. Constitution (but as noted before, this regime is running roughshod over it and the rule of law). It’s also a “shiny object” distraction (to take the focus off of other worse news that the media isn’t covering). Basically, all of this is designed to exhaust people.

As for that whole activism angle (not being on my “BINGO” card for 2025), there was that internal drama with one of the main movements (50501) back in April that highlighted the things I dislike about anything that ends up being part of the political realm (power dynamics and money). After trying to read up on it (and determining it was going to be a “he said, she said” sort of ordeal, I decided it was not worth the energy (the truth with all parties involved likely lies somewhere in the middle but I know that whenever there is power/money involved as is the case when a political action committee ends up taking over the movement, there will be ulterior motives on that side). Lot of people have since quit being part of that movement and moved on to doing things on their own locally. The protests themselves have taken on their own life anyway as was the original intention of that movement (by its original creator who was forced out). But it’s also why I stepped away from the May 1st protest and will take a step back from such activism until the proverbial shit hits the fan.
