My initial conditional offer is at $40 per share…. the actual offer price is expected to be known on Thursday (FB is scheduled to begin actual trading on Friday, May 18).
According to media reports, demand by the big money institutional investors has been on the weak side (over concerns regarding some of the same sort of issues I have with the long term prospects when it comes to revenue growth). Retail investor (as well as hedge fund) demand (as far as getting in on the initial offering) however isn’t being dampened as even someone like myself, who would not even bother playing with this IPO (if shares could only be purchased once public trading began as opposed to being able to possibly acquire some shares before that), are jockeying to at least take advantage of the short term potential.
Update: the conditional offer acts like a limit order where if the initial pricing ends up being below it, that initial price is what I’ll be paying. I placed a conditional offer in order to express interest but will have a window to make changes once pricing takes place after the bell on May 17.
