Britain and Germany issued travel warnings earlier today regarding travel to the US. This comes on the heels of German’s being recently detained by US immigrations, a French space researcher being denied entry, a U.K. tourist being detained by ICE for 19 days, and many other less reported actions being taken (on top of the deportations that have been taking place; many which have no due process involved).
UPDATE: Denmark and Finland issued their own warnings on March 21, 2025.
UPDATE: France, Ireland, Norway, and Portugal have issued their own warnings. This comes on the heels of more reports by tourists from Europe being detained at the Canada and Mexico borders (some for weeks at a time) without being told specifically why.
Additionally, more green card holders are noting the more aggressive/hostile questioning taking place during re-entry at international airports in the US. I’ve heard some personal stories by Japanese nationals (with green cards) noting this when arriving back in places like Los Angeles and Honolulu (both locations have a relatively large number of Japanese nationals; the latter has fairly large number per capita of green card holders from not only Japan, but also the Philippines and South Korea). Many are finding it unsettling and upsetting. I’ve advised the ones I know to potentially retain an immigration attorney ahead of time (at least have an initial consultation relaying their concerns given the current geopolitical climate).
Many are naturally fearful of speaking out publicly (you will find only a small number of mentions on social media for example) about those experiences with CPB agents. The fact that immigration is now going through peoples electronic devices (smart phones, tablets, and computers are being confiscated for examination) looking for anything negative regarding the current regime, should be alarming (it’s an active erosion of rights that is taking place where the objective of those in power is to scare people into keeping silent, not pushing back, and not speaking negatively about the regime).
I’m expecting additional countries to begin adding travel advisories or warnings for the US as more experience this hostile interrogations, detainments, are denied entry, or are deported. Australia, New Zealand, and Canada already have had notices in place (I’m expecting more of this map to be red in the future).
Tourism to the US is already being affected with large number of Canadian’s refusing to cross over into the US. Hawaii has seen a fair number of cancellations (with the policies of the US regime factoring into that decision).
Some are being advised not to leave the country (since they will be scrutinized during re-entry). Those who do need to travel are now being advised to take only “clean” electronic devices (obviously problematic when you really aren’t doing anything wrong). All of this puts a target onto ones free speech rights when it comes to disagreements with the government (which is clearly a first amendment right that is now being systematically attacked by this regime).
I know that blogs will also eventually come under attack (with these major corporations bending the knee to this regime, is another reason why I’ve been looking at other options including the fediverse excluding Threads due to it being a Meta property).
