This latest quake took place at 4:20 AM on Friday (local time) and registered a 3 on the seismic intensity scale in Saitama, Tochigi, Gunma, Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Yamanashi, and Tokyo-to. The depth of this quake was deep at 100km which allowed the seismic waves to travel farther (and thus the large distribution of intensity 3 shaking). This temblor shook buildings in the capital but caused no reported damage.
Heavy sleepers probably slept through it but the level 3 shaking would have woken most people up (maybe a clue to get an early start for work).
The previous two quakes caused localized damage in locations with the highest shaking. Soil liquifaction also occurred in the M6.8 quake.
