Investigation into lavish spending by the General Services Administration for conferences and employee rewards which included the lack of oversight for the expenses that were billed to the Federal Government. This includes a 4 day stay at an expense Las Vegas resort, food, 115 iPod’s (which went missing and what triggered an investigation to track some stolen items down; that uncovered this wider scandal).
The video from April 17th is 5.5 hours long. Government Services Administration (GSA) current and former officials testified on the lavish conference the organization held in Las Vegas in October 2010. They talked about planning for the conference, decisions made by government personnel, and the official response to the scandal. It includes the typical evasive coaching that top administrators, politicians, and company executives are famous for.
The thing is this, it’s only a tip of a massive iceberg when it comes to what amounts to waste of tax payer money. It’s naive to think that this sort of thing isn’t occurring at other federal agencies or at the state and city level. Unsurprising, bribes and kickbacks happen to be an underlying theme in this particular investigation.
