First, let me preface this entry with the following. One of the main aspects of most of my blog posts is how they are written from this “stream of consciousness” point of view (the first draft is what I am actually thinking being transcribed into a post). I often times hit “publish” on these first drafts and later fix as much misspelling/poor grammar, etc (though still imperfect). I also rarely use the “F” word (verbally and in writing). I feel that it loses its effect when constantly used (mainly referring again to the “F-bomb”). When it comes to Zuckerberg (Meta’s CEO) though, he is one of the few executives who I can drop F-bombs all day long and refer to as Fuckerberg without wincing.
And excuse my outright uncensored bluntness on this, but this guy is literally a fucking idiot; moron personified. He is a tech bro who got lucky and made immense amounts of money (which translates into power) with early Facebook and is therefore able to wield his idiotic influence like he knows what the fuck he is doing/talking about (him and Musk are idiot brothers from different mothers in the same class). He renamed/rebranded the company to Meta because he thought the “metaverse” was going to be this next big thing. He even had those goofy demos (as if the ones from the 90’s weren’t enough). I mean watch these, and tell me you think this guy is some genius visionary.
I didn’t blog about all of this when it happened in 2021 because I had clocked out of that space (as I was more focused on real life stuff as well as my gaming blog at the time and only touched upon the metaverse from that angle). Similarly, when he jumped on AI, I read his drivel about AI-powered chatbots and using AI to create friendships, and that just left me thinking he needs to STFU. Unfortunately, he can throw money at people to get them to work for Meta (aka selling your soul for financial security; I mean what person wouldn’t be tempted by that?) to try and fulfill these predictions of his in order to will them into existence so long as it benefits him/his companies (at the expense of most everything else). I divested from Facebook because he’s a socially inept moron driving the decisions.
Years later, color me not shocked that his prognostications about the metaverse has fallen flat just like every previous one regardless of what name it went by (bro couldn’t even get it right with NFT’s while folks like myself knew what a scam that was and wanted no part of that in gaming). These same people (across industries) are the ones doing the same thing with AI (except this time around, forcing it down everyones throat) with Wall Street being complicit in hyping it up in pump-and-dump fashion. And just to qualify yet again, I am not entirely against AI/ML tech (it has positive uses like what I am doing with on-machine multimedia enhancing/restoration/upscaling which is my primary use case). What I take issue with is how corporate execs see it as a means to replace human workers (as a cost cutting measure in order to drive their market capitalization on Wall Street).
Now what has set me off to be so incendiary about this asshole where I felt compelled to not self-censor what I actually think about him/his latest musings? Well, he now puts out this inflammatory prediction (keep in mind the above) that “individuals who don’t adopt AI-powered smart glasses in the future, will face ‘significant cognitive disadvantage,’ compared to those who do.” Please just fuck off Fuckerberg. Your existing AI efforts can’t even properly handle moderation duties without erroneously handing out account actions that wrongfully accused those people of engaging in child exploitation. Now you want to shovel that technology into smart glasses that can become an even more privacy invading data collection system (one that will eventually be weaponized as a means to enriching Fuckerberg even more).
