Shibuya Scramble Crossing Arsonist Apprehended

Fire set by an arsonist at Tokyo's Shibuya Scramble Crossing

A Nagoya man in his 50’s was apprehended by police after he lit a fire in the middle of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing on Friday evening at around 9PM (April 3rd JST). NTV’s streaming live cam in the area caught the suspect pouring flammable liquid from a container as the traffic light was changing to allow vehicular traffic to resume. The suspect then set fire to the ground. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Police quickly extinguished the fire. Little details as to the motives have been released though some cardboard signs was found with a URL to a conspiracy web site which makes claims such as “Korean’s have secretly taken over Japan”.
