macOS 15 (Sequoia) – Mac Compatibility List

Intel-based Mac’s will continue to be supported at least for another year with macOS 15 aka macOS Sequoia (with a few caveats).  The following are the compatible systems (most Intel Mac’s from December 2017 through the last ones released in 2020, will run the operating system.

All of these systems also include an Apple T2 security chip (which is an ARM based A10 variant that was used in iPhone’s, iPad’s and iPod touch); the iPhone mirroring feature requires this T2 chip.
New features like Apple Intelligence will require an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 chip and higher) though.
Sequoia will likely be one of the final operating system releases for Intel Mac’s unless they decide to phase out support for some product lines separately (like say the Pro 2019 and remaining 2020 systems continuing with official support in macOS 16 but similarly without access to features only available to Apple Silicon).  Since Apple usually then supports security updates for at least another year after, it looks like 2027-2028 will be the timeframe where official support ends for Intel Macs.
